Slower balloon pop + softer, longer key haptic (match stock feel)
From OverClocked (Discord, 13–14 Sep 2026).
Two-part polish to bring the typing feel closer to the stock iOS keyboard:
Key preview "balloon" pop — currently appears instantly at full size with no grow-in animation. Request: a slower, springier pop like stock.
Key tap haptic — request: "firm but less aggressive and longer" instead of a sharp click.
Context: OverClocked first asked whether the character is inserted before or after the key pop animation; it's decoupled (balloon shows on key-down, character commits on key-up / rollover), so animating the balloon adds no typing latency.

done, both are in the next build (407). the balloon now springs up instead of just appearing, and the key haptic is softer and a bit longer — dropped the sharpness so it's more of a thock than a click, and gave it a short body so it doesn't feel like a needle tap. the intensity slider still controls how strong it is.
haptic is all feel though, so treat it as a first pass. once you've got 407, tell me if you want it softer, stronger, shorter or longer and I'll dial it in.
@OverClocked
@OverClocked quick change of plan on the haptic — I tried the softer, longer tap but it felt worse in testing, so I rolled it back to the original click. the balloon pop stays, that part's still in 407.
didn't want to ship a haptic that felt off just for the sake of changing it. if you get 407 and the tap still feels too sharp next to stock, say so and we'll take another run at it, probably a smaller tweak than what I went with this time.
Got it. Will test b407, whenever you are ready.
@OverClocked ended up going further than just tweaking a number — I built a little UI for it. there's a pad in the haptics settings where you drag to set strength and firmness together, and a mini keyboard right under it so you can tap and feel exactly what you picked. so you can dial in that light-and-firm stock feel yourself instead of me guessing at it. it's in build 407.
This works well for me! Both the custom ui and the preview character
The dpad is a great idea. Is it possible to add preset haptics based on popular keyboards?
To feel iOS stock keyboard like haptics, we can set strength between 40 and 50% and firmness between 60 and 70%.
Strength - 45% and firmness - 65% should be optimal.
Any idea how to emulate yandex keyboard?
Since, Yandex has a softer feedback that the stock keyboard, trial and error by reducing the strength and firmness in small decrements should take us there.

I love these details! Great feedback overclock!
Created a new one for the suggestion of presets: #S76
Closing this one as you all seem happy with the implementation.
