Selecting left suggestion occasionally fails to replace text
Steps to reproduce
Intermittent. Can’t reproduce. Happened only rarely after swiping a word. Please note this has not now happened in a few days so may already be fixed. Suggest closing if no repeat by Monday
What I expected
Selecting left autocorrect suggestion replaces misspelled word
What happened instead
Misspelled word is not replaced despite left suggestion being selected. Suggestion disappears after pressing.

@Unmutual sounds good, let's do that. leaving it open for now, and if it doesn't come back by monday I'll close it. can't repro it on my end either. if it does happen again even once, try to grab a diagnostics export right after (settings → diagnostics) — swipe + suggestion replace is tricky to chase without one.
Ah I had one on the discord report. I’ve reattached here. Here was the accompanying explanation
Just caught an example. Swiped a word. The keyboard thought it was there’d. I corrected it to themed by selecting the left hand suggestion but there’d remained on screen. I’ve attached a log.
That being said, it’s now Monday so if you can’t see anything in the diagnostics, I’d recommend closing for now.
We will keep this in "need info" given the fact that the diagnostics are from an older version. Please generate new diagnostics if this happens again and upload.
I will. I’m optimistic in that i haven’t seen it in a while though.
Also wondering if this should be closed. Not seen this bug in well over a week
thx
I’m able to reproduce this at will.
Steps:
Try swiping there’d
Tap the suggestion there’s on the left
Notice that it doesn’t get replaced
Logs and video attached.
Confirmed. This is reproduced when I try and replace the word there’d with the left most prompt. If I try and swipe there’d and it gets it wrong and there’d ends up being the leftmost suggestion then the replace works. Entirely reproducible when the word there’d is the one being replaced though.
Good catch!
Just found another one. Trying to type hasn’t but swipe generates hadn’t. Selecting hasn’t from the left suggestion never replaces hadn’t.
@Unmutual found it. the replace matches the swiped word against what's actually in the text, but when the swiped word is a contraction (there'd, hasn't) the apostrophe sitting in the document is the curly typographic one, while the match was still using a straight apostrophe. so the two never lined up and nothing got replaced. that's why it only ever hit apostrophe words and felt random at first.
fixed for build 421. thanks for narrowing it down to there'd specifically, that's what made it obvious
Great! Good to hear.
Fixed for me. Great to see this one gone!
