Support hyphenated words as complete dictionary entries
What would you like?
Please support hyphenated words/expressions as complete learned or imported dictionary entries.
Currently, if I import a hyphenated word into the dictionary, EFKey seems to recognize only the part before the hyphen rather than treating the entire entry as one word. As a result, such words still have to be typed manually.
The importer should preserve entries containing hyphens, and the prediction/swipe engine should be able to treat the complete hyphenated entry as a single candidate.
Why it would help
Hyphenated words are normal vocabulary in many languages, so importing them into the learned-word dictionary should make them available for prediction just like ordinary words.

Can you validate this now? This should have been addressed with <https://feedback.efkey.app/r/B25>
I tested this again. The fix from B25 seems to work for typed input, but I don't think it addresses the swipe/glide part of this suggestion.
What I mean is the behavior you get in Gboard: if a hyphenated word is in the dictionary, you don't need to type or swipe the hyphen itself. You simply glide through all the letters continuously, and the keyboard recognizes the dictionary entry and inserts the hyphen automatically.
For example, if a dictionary contains a word in the form
abc-def, swiping continuously throughabcdefshould be able to produceabc-def.I tested this with several learned/imported hyphenated words in build 421, and typing/prediction around the hyphen seems improved, but glide typing still doesn't recognize them as complete words.
Is swipe recognition of hyphenated dictionary entries supposed to be supported as part of this fix, or would that need a separate change?
That would require a separate change.
Got it. In that case, I think it probably makes sense to keep this ticket open for the glide-typing part, since the original request specifically included both prediction and swipe support for complete hyphenated dictionary entries.
The prediction/typing side seems to be addressed by the other fix, while the remaining part here would be recognizing a hyphenated dictionary entry from a continuous glide over its letters and inserting the hyphen automatically, like Gboard does.
Would it make sense to rename this ticket to make that remaining scope clearer?
I will leave it to @efko as to whether he wants to treat the swipe request in a separate suggestion or in this one.
