Keep suggested emoji in suggestion bar for repeated use
What would you like?
When the emoji suggestions are on, keep the respective emoji available till a fresh word is typed or swiped. This helps user to tap the emoji repeatedly to insert multiple copies of it.
Why it would help
Currently, after selecting the emoji once, the suggestion disappears, requiring the user to type its trigger word (e.g., “lol”) again to bring it back.
Ideally, the selected emoji should remain in the suggestions row on the same position until the user resumes typing or the suggestion context changes.
@pupilsand @expipiplus1 Moved this to suggestions section, as this isn’t really a bug.

@pupilsand @ilikered the bar only looked for emoji next to a word, so once the text ended in an emoji there was nothing left to suggest. Fixed for build 468, and in 2.2.1 on the App Store: the emoji you tapped stays in the same spot and each tap adds another one with no space, until you type, swipe or move the cursor.
Two issues.
Attached video shows both the issues.
@ilikered the emoji went in with no space after it, so typed letters stuck to it while a swipe added its own. The second emoji you saw on "Happy" was actually a different face (😀), the bar was still allowed two emoji when the cursor sits in a word. Fixed for build 469, and in 2.2.2 on the App Store: a letter after a bar emoji gets a space, a comma or another tap on the same emoji doesn't, and the cursor bar shows only one emoji next to the word suggestions.
Letter after the emoji now gets the space as expected.
There’s another issue.
Emoji in suggestions setting is set to Suggest and add after the word.
Example sentence
Happy 😄😄😄
Bring the cursor at the end of Happy and tap the emoji suggestion. The word gets replaced by the emoji.
Expected
Happy 😄😄😄😄
Actual
