Field Mode Ready to Receive Translation Input when Translation as You Type is ON

When “Translation as you type” is ON under Tools > Translation, can the New Field Mode be active with the cursor inside the box, and ready for live translation, so we can start typing and the translation pops up right in the App, without hitting any extra button? This works partially if the translation kicks off from the toolbar or the T pull-down, but the spacebar swipe doesn’t switch to new field mode straight away.
