Liquid Glass Keyboard Theme

Done Appearance, themes & sound

Zoltán TESTER ·

Hi! Would you consider adding a Liquid Glass theme to the keyboard in a future update? I think it would look great and fit perfectly with the iOS design. Thank you!

Does the Liquid Glass theme consume too much memory, potentially leading to app crashes or unexpected closures?

@Zoltán no, it uses no blur or glass effect per key, just a coloured fill and a 1 pt edge line, so memory stays about the same as with the plain themes. That was the reason I didn't use the real iOS glass effect: 40-odd effect layers would push the keyboard toward the memory limit iOS sets for keyboards.

@Zoltán a third-party keyboard can't see the app behind it, so the refracting glass that iOS draws isn't possible here. What I built instead is see-through keys with a thin glass edge, in build 464 under Style › Theme › Liquid Glass keys (Pro). It works with all three themes: Native gets more see-through keys, EFKey and Custom keep their colours and get the edge. On the App Store it comes in the update after 2.2.1.

The preview doesn't resemble how it looks like on my keyboard

@Ed the preview in Style drew the native keys solid white with just the glass edge, while the keyboard itself uses the see-through keys. Fixed for build 466, and on the App Store in the update after 2.2.1: with Liquid Glass keys on, the preview uses the same see-through keys as the keyboard.
