Further to the second point in #S375, when the maximum number of scrollable suggestions is set to 5 or 7, the items do not span the full width of the bar. Full coverage would be more visually pleasing, matching the display seen with 3 suggestions.
@OverClocked the free space in the row was only shared out when there were 3 suggestions or fewer, so with 5 or 7 it stopped partway across. Fixed for build 452, and in 2.2.1 on the App Store: when the suggestions fit, they now stretch across the whole bar, and the row only scrolls when they don't.

Then, when selecting more than 3 items, and when eg 7 items apply, you sometimes only see 3 items on display. How do you make clear to users that there are actually more items to be displayed when scrolling?
Next, I typed a word with about 8 suggestions, the first 3 were displayed and I could indeed scroll for more words. Now, when switch to another app, and go back to the app I used, where the word is still there with the former 8 suggestions, now I only see the 3 that fit in the suggestion bar, and I can no longer scroll for the rest of the words.
With 3 items, it’s not scrollable but 3 was added with the new option to display 5/7/9/12 suggestions. Just having 5,7,9 and 12 there would make more sense.
Scrolling items switches back to the default 3 items when we are swipe typing. Not sure how switching to another app and switching back reduced suggestions to 3. @efko will know better.
@OverClocked@Ed when you come back to an app with a word still at the cursor, the bar rebuilds suggestions for that word, and that path was still capped at 3, so there was nothing to scroll. Fixed for build 454, and in 2.2.1 on the App Store: that bar now shows your full maximum, 3 is gone from the choices (it becomes 5), and when the row doesn't fit, the next suggestion is always visibly cut off at the edge. Swipe keeps 3 suggestions on purpose.

I know, 3 is default so can be gone IMHO. I can provide a log when necessary
