Add haptics for long press

Done Typing & autocorrect

What would you like?

Add haptics for long press menu items such as on the dot and the settings button, when haptics are enabled. Currently, even when haptics are enabled, they don’t work on the long press items.

Why it would help

That you can feel that you’re skipping keys.

Just checking if this has a fix for testing. I’m not getting haptics for long presses on the comma or the period key. I do for long pressing the 123 key

@efko Haptics are now added when sliding over selections in the pop up. Just wanted to highlight that they still trigger differently in comparison to the long press of the 123 key. If you long press the 123 key there is a haptic tap when first pressing and another when the symbol keyboard opens. There are no further taps either when sliding over selections or when selecting symbol. When long pressing the period key there’s the same initial tap but no tap on the symbol selection popping up. Instead there’s a tap whenever you slide over a symbol. No tap on selecting.

I’m wondering if a more consistent approach would be initial tap when the 123 key or period key is pressed, a second tap on pop up / change to symbols keyboard. No taps for sliding over but a tap on selection?

@Unmutual why suggesting not having taps for sliding over? I am a big fan of this, especially since I specifically chose to get haptic feedback, I also expecting to happen here. On the latest testflight there is very light haptic feedback when hovering over the options of long pressing the dot, and th3 comma. However, a long press on 123 does not result at all in haptic feedback with me on the secondly and latest testflight build. @efko

I get two taps when long pressing 123. One immediately when pressing and a second very shortly afterwards coinciding with the keyboard changing.

And..No major issue with it at all. Just like consistency across the keyboard if possible. I think the tap on selection aligns neatly with the haptic tap at the end of a swiped word. I won’t die on a hill over it though. Would you suggest taps as you slide over symbols to your target after long pressing the 123 key? That’s my main issue.. The difference in approach between long pressing period and long pressing 123

Thanks! I'd love to have taps indeed, when sliding over the symbols. How it works feight now on the dot, feels good to me although id prefer the same strength as on the keyboard. They're a bit on the soft side now. And I'd really like the same behavior on sliding on the 123 characters 😁

That would work for me. Also agree about the haptic strength

@Ed build 423 has the version you two agreed on: sliding over symbols now ticks in the 123 hold layer too, not just the dot panel, and the ticks use the full key press strength (they were running at 45% intensity before, that's why they felt soft). I also added the missing tap when the dot panel opens, so it matches how the 123 key behaves.

One thing I couldn't reproduce: Ed, the 123 long press should give you a tap on press and another when the symbols show up, even on 422. If it's still silent for you on 423, send me a diagnostics export from the app and I'll dig.

Fixed for me. My ocd is much calmer now. 😂

It’s so cool to see that which each version, the app improves much! Absolutely love it! And re this one, all functions perfectly well!

  • Long press on 123, . and , > tap
  • Hovering over the 123, , and. options >tap
  • Tap strength is the same as the kkey boar
  • Customizing the tap strength also applies to the 123, , and the . sign

Approved!

Wait!

Please apply a tap as well on the cross sign when having search boxes like these
