Steps to reproduce

What I expected

@ryanmjudd a few causes of this are already fixed in 2.2.1, which is in App Store review now: switching back from another app, typing a letter after a swiped word and a period, and bulleted lists in WhatsApp. One more is fixed for the update after that: moving the cursor to the very start of existing text. If it still happens after 2.2.1, tell me which app it was and what you did right before the lowercase word.
@ryanmjudd is it all good?
It’s definitely better, but in some quick testing, capitalization is still not working if you type something then go back to the beginning of that word.
A third-party keyboard doesn't really know where the start is. It can only calculate it. That's also why the touchpad doesn't work as well as on the Apple keyboard, for example. I'll look into it some more.
@ryanmjudd I looked into it. At the very start of a field the keyboard can tell where it is, and your video shows exactly that case: the cursor in front of the first word. That fix didn't make it into 2.2.1, it'll be in the next update after it. Shift then turns on there whether you tap in front of the word or move the cursor with the space bar.
