Accents not being added to questions

App Store Released Typing & autocorrect Spanish Normal fixed in 2.2

baruffa · iOS 27 · iPhone 16 Pro ·

In Spanish, when you ask a question, accents must be added to the words.

The words that need the accent, are not accented when used outside of a question.

For example, the word "que" (what) is only accented when used in a question:

"Por qué?" is correct,

"Por que?" is not.

Example 2:

"Donde." is okay

"Donde?" is wrong

"Dónde?" is correct

Notice that if inside of a question, it needs an accent.

Words affected:

"Por qué?"

"Cómo?"

"Dónde?"

"Cuándo?"

"Quién?"

Steps to reproduce

  1. Type a question such as "por que"

What I expected

Should be autocorrected to "por qué"

What happened instead

Remains as "por que"

How to solve:

Not sure if the developer has access to the autocorrect engine but there are a few simple rules (if else) that I could list that would help detect these cases and add accents appropriately where needed.

@baruffa "que" and "qué" are both real words, and the keyboard never looked at the question mark when choosing between them, so it kept what you typed. Fixed for 2.2, the next App Store update: when you type the ? the question word gets its accent (Por qué?, Dónde está el baño?), after a ¿ it happens as soon as you finish the word, and one backspace undoes it.
