@manny.altshuler this is the same thing you emailed me about in August. I added a fix for it back then and it's in the version you have, so something in your setup still gets around it and I can't reproduce it here.
A few questions would narrow it down a lot. Does it happen only in Due, or also in Notes or Messages? Every time, or just sometimes? Is the field empty when you start dictating, or is there text above it? And how do you start dictation: holding the space bar, the mic in the top bar, or do you get sent to the EFKey app and then tap "Insert dictation" when you come back?
If Notes works fine and only Due does it, that alone tells me where to look.
I thought it was, but it’s kind of weird. The first time I dictate, it’s non-capitalized. If I erase it and dictate again, then it is capitalized. Don’t know what to tell you.
I had the same problem. Whenever I would use dictation for a text message, Gmail, Notes, or Reminders, a starting letter would remain lowercase. I decided to try deleting EFkey and reinstalling. Capitalization of the first word in the sentence is now working in text messaging, Reminders and Gmail. Still not working in Notes (or this suggestion box, I just noticed).
unfortunately, after about an hour, it went right back to not capitalizing the first letter in all text messages, Gmail, Notes, and Reminders. and in this text box.
I just now noticed as I dictated a text, the first word in the sentence was lowercase but the second sentence's first word was capitalized. Then, the third sentence reverted back to a lowercase first letter. Another interesting thing is I am dictating this current message in this feedback text box and, as you can see, all sentences are correctly capitalized at the beginning (without editing). Go figure...
Can you please post a video of the issue. I’m absolutely not able to reproduce this on any of the mentioned apps. Also, please post a screenshot of the Capitalization setting under the Typing tab.
Ok. Now I understand. You are using the iOS dictation not EFKey’s. To use EFKey’s dictation, you either need to enable it in the tools or from the space bar. Below is the navigation for both.
Keyboard - Bar - Suggestions and tools
Customize the toolbar - Dictation should be on.
Long press keys - Spacebar - Dictate by holding the spacebar
Once you have either of these enabled, you can use the respective navigation.
having a problem consistently starting the microphone, sometimes it starts OK and other times it just won’t start, and I’m flipping back-and-forth trying to get it going
I have the same issue. It's why I'm currently using the iOS dictation. At this point, quicker and more consistent is more important to me than capitalization in text messages. Emails are still a bit frustrating, though.
@manny.altshuler@Shbarnum EFKey dictation gets the text back in chunks, and when a new chunk started after a period or question mark it kept the lowercase letter, which is where "? maybe" and ". just" came from. Fixed for 2.2, the next App Store update: every sentence in an EFKey dictation now starts with a capital. The mic under the keyboard on the bottom right is Apple's dictation, not EFKey's, and I'm still looking into why iOS lowercases the first word there.
EFKey dictation was already working fine. It was already capitalizing the first letter at the start of the sentence or after period or question mark. The issue was with the iOS dictation.

no, it happens all the time in all apps. Just like this one.
I deleted the app and reinstalled it. and it seems to be working properly now. Period
So it's fixed! :- )

still happening to me as well. Case in point the word still.

Try keeping the duration lower. Currently, I see that you kept 1 hour, please try 5 minutes.
Okay. I'll give that a try. Working so far. I'll let you know.
about half the time I get a could not start the microphone message

Correct.
This is a test message. I'm just testing how dictation works on this keyboard. I'm hoping that everything is okay.
Above message is fully typed with dictation.
