Any changes in the EF key settings need to be applied twice for the changes to appear
The changes in the settings do not stick after I apply. It would have reversed to the previous setting. So I have to change the settings again for it to finally apply.
To reproduce: change any toggle, then try on the keyboard, it wouldn’t have applied. When you go back to the setting the toggle is in the previous position. Change again, and finally it applies.

Tried with key shadow, key animafions, haptics and it works. Cannot reproduce on iPhone16 pro iOS27.2b2
@Nikhil.tom I found one way this happens. If you switch language on the keyboard (globe, language key or space swipe) or toggle one-handed mode after changing something in the app, the keyboard sent its whole copy of the settings back to the app, and that copy could still have the old value. The app took it over when you came back, so the toggle flipped back. The second change won because by then it was newer than the keyboard's copy. Now the keyboard only sends the language and one-handed state. Fix is in build 426, and in 2.1.3 on the App Store.
To confirm it's the same thing you hit: do you switch languages or use one-handed mode on the keyboard? And do you have EFKey on a second device (iPad or another iPhone) with iCloud settings sync on? That one is a separate path I haven't changed yet.
It’s still happening in 426. But very inconsistent to reproduce accurately.
Settings like changing swipe trails, toggles revert back to original state after I exit the efkey settings.
No I don’t have EF key installed on other devices.
No I don’t switch languages.
Yes I use one handed mode, not all the time. Only when needed. It happened once with one handed mode but I couldn’t reproduce it.
I ll try to find if I can reproduce it again.
Same thing just happened to me. Was testing a theme, and then reverted back to the native theme. The native theme didn’t stick at first. Had to apply again.
@Nikhil.tom @Nikhil.tom done?
Unfortunately, this is still the case. Certain settings such as switching theme needs to be applied twice to stick.
It happened to me once again, but just once build 434
@Nikhil.tom @OverClocked there was a second way back: when the keyboard picked up settings from the app, it rewrote every one of them from its last copy, and if that copy was a moment older than your change, the old value won. Fixed for build 438 (and 2.2 on the App Store): it now only takes over the settings that actually changed since it last synced, so a fresh change in the app can't be overwritten. If it still flips back for you on 438, send me a Diagnostics export right after, it now logs which part of sync rewrote which setting.
Works so far. build 438
