Function key popups for p and o below the finger

The popups for the function key P and O are below instead of above and is not visible as it appears under the finger.

That's a compromise we settled on because there is, by a very small margin, not enough space the put the popup above. We cannot render anything outside of the keyboard area itself.
For reference, this was discussed on discord in my thread "Function Gesture Icon not showing" in the bugs channel.
A difficulty with this is, any solution has to also kind of work for people without numbers row and maybe even without the suggestions bar.
Do you have any ideas, how this could be improved?
Maybe one idea could be to just make to icon a bit smaller, so at least it fits above for people with numbers row and suggestions bar enabled.
Understood. Minor issue not a deal breaker.

@Nikhil.tom turns out I could do better than the compromise. on the top row, instead of dropping the hint capsule below the key (which on a big phone just lands under your finger again), the gesture affordance now shows in the stem of the popup itself, right above the key. it uncovers as you start dragging down. lower rows keep the capsule like before.

Actually, now there's this issue again. I.e. function key indicator icon is not visible.

Yes, this is only relevant when you turn off numbers row and/or have suggestions bar hidden completely and/or have the "more characters on long press" setting enabled

@muleluku yeah that one's on me. the 423 change put the gesture icon into the popup's stem on the top row every time, but with the two-row accent grid on O (no number row) the stem gets squeezed down to almost nothing, so only the little chevron was left. now the icon only goes into the stem when it actually fits there. when it doesn't, the capsule shows up under the popup again like it did before 423. single-row popups like Nikhil's P and O stay as they are.
fixed in build 425, and it'll be in 2.1.3 on the App Store.
